Vin Crescenzo

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA, USA
Home Venue: Choppers Hatchet House

Vin Crescenzo discovered his passion for axe throwing in 2017 after seeing a Facebook ad for “indoor BYOB Axe Throwing” at Urban Axes. He visited a few times with friends, joined a league, and has been deeply involved in the sport ever since. Competing in disciplines such as Hatchet, Big Axe, and Doubles, Vin is an active participant in the axe-throwing community. His favorite discipline is Doubles, where he enjoys the camaraderie and teamwork.

Vin’s most memorable moments in axe throwing include winning the 2022 WATL US Open Big Axe Championship and participating in the final Wednesday League at Urban Axes Philly. Known by his nickname "Jean-Claude Vin Damme," bestowed upon him by league mate Kevin Bradley, Vin brings enthusiasm and energy to every competition. He values the community aspect of axe throwing the most, always ready to support his friends, whether by boosting their confidence or consoling them after a tough loss.

A notable achievement in Vin’s career is being the 81st person in the IATF (formerly NATF) to throw an 81. He regularly throws at Clutch Shot Axe Throwing in Pennsauken, NJ, and Angry Jacks Axe Throwing Club in Phoenixville, PA. His go-to axes include a stock ShoPro for bullseyes and a Reforged ShoPro for clutches, both fitted with handles from Philly Axe Co.

Vin’s first axe tournament was the Urban Axes Philadelphia “Summer Skills Super Slam” in 2017. His motivation to compete and earn a bid for the 2023 IATC stems from his goal to qualify every year, having done so since his second year of competition.

Outside of axe throwing, Vin is a skilled custom axe handle builder and was a bowler for 15 years. He works as a bartender at Wissahickon Brewing Company, where he enjoys engaging with the community. His favorite foods are pizza and wings, and his favorite vacation was a trip to Los Angeles in February for the Golden State Grand Slam at LAAX.

Vin is always there to cheer on his friends and competitors, and TiF could not be prouder to have him representing our values at IATC. Good luck!
